Day 1 - Arrival in Sri Lanka and relaxation at Negombo

« Ayubowan » ! Welcome to this magical place. Your guide welcomes you when you arrive at the airport. You leave for Negombo and settle into your hotel room. You can relax near the swimming pool or visit this seaside resort known for the beauty of its beaches. Depending on your arrival, don’t miss the opportunity to go explore the laguna by rowboat on the channel built by the Dutch. Today it is used by the fishers to access the sea. Or go stroll on the market of a thousand colors fishes, one of the most lively places of the country.

Day 2- The sacred city of Anuradhapura

You leave for the tip of the cultural triangle : the sacred city of Anuradhapura, ancient capital city of Sri Lanka which is teeming with treasures, heritage of a millenarian civilization. This site registered at UNESCO’s world heritage program is home to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodi, sacred tree originating from a branch of Ficus religiosa under which the Buddha reached enlightenment. The gardens of pleasure, the monasterian ensembles populated with statues, or the monumental stupa of Jetavanarayama, which culminates at 122M. You’ll then visit Mihintale, a high place of Sri Lankan buddhism.

Day 3- Panorama of the Sigiriya Lion Rock

You’ll go explore one of the major sites of Sri Lanka. The Lion Rock is one of the most captivating sites which is also registered at UNESCO’s world heritage program. The citadel’s ruins are perched on the top of the rock. King Kashyapa undertook its construction in the 5th century and it had helped protect nearby villages. You’ll embrace the grandiose view which extends on the jungle and gardens down near the rock. During the ascension, you can admire the famous mural paintings of the « Sigiriya ladies » representing women whose arms are charged with flowers and adorned with jewellery. You may then have fun riding an elephant in the nearby landscape. Let yourself be submerged by its timelessness.

Day 4 - Visiting the Dambulla-Matale-Kandy cave temples

Arrival in Dambulla, where one of the country’s most beautiful sanctuaries spans around a rock in which multiple cave-temples were dug, the Golden temple, dominated by a solemn Buddha. You’ll visit the caves decorated of marvelous murals of this unique site registered at UNESCO’s world heritage program. Eternity radiates from this place. You continue towards Matale where the spice gardens and the batik workshops bathe you in intense colors and perfumes. You are given the opportunity to discover all the benefits of the island’s spices with their subtle smells and the traditional fabrication of textiles with infinite colours.

Day 5 - With the Gadaladeniya-Embekke elephants

This morning, you’ll observe the elephants gathered by the Millenium Elephant Foundation. You are in direct contact with the pachyderms while they take bathe. You will then visit a surprising paper mill which recycles elephant waste to produce tiny notebooks. You then go admire a temple made entirely out of wood in complete singularity in Embekke.

Jour 6 - At the heart of Kandy's Singhalese lands

This morning, you leave for Kandy, a true buddhist cultural center, sacred place of pilgrimage. Then, you’ll discover the Temple of the Tooth, in the ancient royal palace where where one of the Buddha’s canine is conserved. Kandy and the Temple of the Tooth are sacred spots of pilgrimage for all buddhists. You can then admire the royal garden of Peradeniya and its rare essences, one of the most beautiful in the world. The collection of orchids are unmissable. Stroll by the shimmering shores of the lake. Begin your evening with a kandyan dance spectacle, the traditional danse of the kandyan cultural heritage. Let yourself be enchanted by the music’s rythm and the dancer’s ballets.

Day 7 - In the tea plantations of Ella Ella-Ramboda

A steam train will bring you to Nuwara Eliya in the bright morning. You’ll cross incredibly beautiful landscapes on the way. You will marvel at this green ocean drawn by the tea plantations. Take the opportunity to try yourself at traditional tea picking. On the way, you’ll stop by the tea factory where you will learn the basics of tea fabrication. And while the tea still infuses inside of you, the Ramboda chutes will enchant you.

Day 8 - Exploration of wildlife, National Park of Yala

This morning, you will be heading towards the national park of Yala, an authentic natural treasure renowned for its greatly varied fauna. It’s the second greatest national park of Sri Lanka. Yala particularly shelters the Ceylan panther. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, you’ll explore these lands during a safari aboard a jeep. You will encounter herds of wild elephants, bears, monkeys, wild buffalos, a multitude of birds and a quantity of multicolored butterflies. You may then admire the site of Buduruwagala, with its Buddhas sculpted in stone, including the breatest in Sri Lanka.

Day 9 - Visiting the Galle citadel.

On this day, you will discover the city of Galle. Ancient portuguese then dutch port and demonstration of European colonial strength in Asia, the fortified city of Galle shelters a fortress registered to UNESCO’s world heritage program. Take a stroll in this massive citadel’s streets and go encounter its history. Shops, old houses, facades and names of the streets, Galle is a little like the Montmartre of Sri-Lanka. A boat ride for two on the Madu river will charm you by its serene and tranquil atmosphere.

Days 10-12 - Relaxation on the golden coasts of Tangalle

Leave your luggage in a lodge on the edge of a sea of gold and saphire. It is time for relaxations and ressourcing on the shores of the indian ocean. You can enjoy the sea and admire the splendour of the sunset if you so desire. Take care of yourself the time of a massage with the island’s essential oils. Stroll on the local markets filled with scents and colors of a thousand tones. Fully enjoy these magical instants.

Day 12 - Depending on your flight schedules, transfert to the international airport of Colombo.

You have the option to extend your circuit by a stay at a seaside resort on the beaches of the indian ocean.
